If you have been to Salt Lake City chances are you have been to this spot which is the Main Family History Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The main library is also known as the Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU) which was established in 1894 as a nonprofit organization funded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since its founding, the GSU has been a leader in advancing genealogical research and has microfilmed and compiled records throughout the world. The GSU has established hundreds of Family History Centers where genealogical research can occur and has published a variety of materials to help individuals discover their ancestors. The GSU certainly has pioneered the technology used today to aid in the delivery of genealogical research throughout the world. I hope that through today’s presentation you will see that this same pioneering spirit that built Salt Lake City and established the GSU is still alive and well today in our efforts in family history work. We hope that the information conveyed is beneficial to each of you in your pursuit of searching and finding your ancestors.
